Can my gym use this if we charge memberships?
Yes. Internal use by a gym or setting team is fine — regardless of whether the gym is commercial. The tool is for the people doing the work.
Can we modify it for our own wall or workflow?
Yes. Modify, adapt, extend. The only requirement is that you share improvements back under the same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). Your hold catalogue stays yours. Improvements to the tool stay in the commons.
Do home gyms and community climbing programs need permission?
No. Use it.
Can we bundle this into a paid product or resell it?
No — not under the free license. Commercial packaging, resale, or bundling into a paid product requires a separate commercial license. Reach out to talk terms.
Can a large company or gym chain integrate this into their platform?
Yes, but not under the free license. Large-scale commercial integration means you're extracting value from a commons tool. You're welcome to do that — but you pay accordingly. Write us.
Can a consultant or vendor use this when working with clients?
Using the tool internally while doing consulting work is one thing. Packaging or reselling it as part of a commercial service offering is another. If you're uncertain which side of that line you're on, ask first.
What does "share alike" mean in practice?
If you distribute a modified version of any tool in this suite, you do so under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 — the same license. You credit Systemically Foolish. You don't add restrictions. The floor stays public.
Why is it free?
The deployment bottleneck collapsed. When something takes an afternoon to build, charging subscription prices for it is taxing a bottleneck that no longer exists — and passing that cost to the people who can least afford it. The knowledge this is built on was never ours alone to charge for. Longer answer here.
Released under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The floor rises for everyone or it doesn't rise at all.
Wrong category. Missing hold type. Something in the taxonomy that doesn't match how you actually set. Tell us.
